This gets tricky for manufacturers trying to keep freshly machined metal parts from corroding. A box of brake discs sitting in a temperature-controlled QC (quality control) office one moment may suddenly be moved to a hot, humid warehouse or truck where the cool metal is a magnet for moisture condensation from the muggy air. Similarly, multiday cross-country trucking will expose a shipment of machined parts or mechanical controls to extreme night and day temperature swings that further encourage condensation and the corrosion that can follow.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2&gt;Why Can Moisture Removal Be Inadequate?&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The traditional approach to moisture absorption is to add desiccant pouches to a package or enclosure. This can help remove one cause of corrosion, but it does not offer active protection against any moisture (not to mention other corrosive material) that reaches the metal surfaces before absorption begins or after the desiccant is spent.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2&gt;Benefit of Two-in-One Package Protection&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Desicorr&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; Pouches go beyond moisture-absorbing action by combining desiccant and Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors in the same package. These protective vapors diffuse out of a breathable membrane and throughout the enclosure in which they are placed, forming a molecular layer on metal surfaces to inhibit corrosion reactions even in the presence of humidity or other corrosives. The Desicorr&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; 1/6 Unit and 1 Unit offer sufficient corrosion protection for enclosures of 1 and 5 ft³ (28 and 140 L) with a moisture absorption capacity of 1.32 and 9.9 g, respectively.* These smaller sizes are available in windowed versions to reveal when indicator spheres are spent. Larger packages with volumes of 20 or 40 ft³ (560 or 1,120 L) can use Desicorr&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; 4 Unit or 8 Unit nonwindowed pouches, respectively, which offer moisture absorption capacities of 39.6 or 79.2 g. Building on Cortec’s earlier biobased paint strippers, this upgraded formula delivers strong performance with improved user experience and significantly higher biobased content (up from 50%).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2&gt;No Methylene Chloride or NMP&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Like Cortec’s previous biobased paint removers, EcoLine&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; Surface Reveal does not contain methylene chloride or NMP (N-methylpyrrolidone), two extremely dangerous paint removal chemicals only recently banned from consumer paint strippers by the EPA. EcoLine&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; Surface Reveal also has much better wetting properties than methylene chloride paint strippers, making it easier to apply and leave on painted surfaces to soften, penetrate, and remove the coating.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2&gt;Improved Odor and User Experience&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;EcoLine&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; Surface Reveal is designed to remove coatings and resin from metal surfaces such as tanks, pipes, and other equipment. It can be applied by dipping, brushing, or rolling. It works quickly, stripping acrylic and alkyd coatings in 15- 30 minutes, depending on conditions. It does not tarnish ferrous metals, aluminum, copper, or brass, and it prevents flash corrosion after cleaning.&lt;/p&gt;

This move helps suppliers and end-users keep pace more easily with increasing recycled content mandates around the globe. Additionally, both Cortec® Advanced Films (US) and EcoCortec® (Europe) continue to meet customer requirements of up to 30% PCR (post-consumer recycled) content upon request.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2&gt;The Advantage of 20% Minimum Recycled Content&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;By standardizing VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt;-126 film and bags to contain a minimum of 20% recycled content, Cortec&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; and EcoCortec&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; have simplified compliance for multinationals that might otherwise have to reconfigure their entire supply chain to keep up with changing demands. For example, corporations shipping packaged parts to India (a country shifting to 20% recycled content minimums for imported flexible plastic packaging by 2027) do not have to find a new supplier or order custom bags in order to meet the forthcoming mandate. Nor will they have to deal with the confusion of ordering different bags for exports to India vs. other countries.     <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;Five years ago, Cortec® introduced Eco Wrap® as the world’s first patented compostable industrial-strength machine-grade stretch film. This blown film is produced with certified compostable resin and a proprietary tackifier additive. Cortec® now introduces the new and improved Eco Wrap®. This advanced formulation is tackier and stronger than the previous iteration while remaining certified industrially compostable by TÜV Austria (#TA8012106218) and meeting the EN 13432/ASTM D6400 standard for commercial composting.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Cortec® has heard all the customer feedback about the original Eco Wrap® formulation leaving something to be desired. The material was not sticky enough, thus requiring additional labor. The material was also prone to tearing, and not as strong as customers wanted it to be.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The film experts at Cortec® have spent the last three years optimizing materials, processes, and equipment to bring a significantly improved Eco Wrap® to the market. Cortec® has invested more than $2 million dollars in capital improvement on the building and equipment used to produce Eco Wrap®. This new equipment allows us to better control the raw material concentrations and increase the tackifier in the formulation. We have investigated other raw material options and have settled on this new and improved formulation to produce the strongest Eco Wrap® yet. The final piece of the improvement was significant process optimization and training on production methods used to manufacture the film.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As a result of Cortec’s focused improvement efforts, our improved Eco Wrap® now has three times the cling and over one-and-a-half times the tear strength as compared to the previous version. This will allow users to wrap their pallets tighter and with greater stretch. Users should also notice that the film tails now stick better to the wrapped pallet. Additionally, users should see some improvements to the film’s transparency.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Cortec® is continuing to work on further improvements for the future of Eco Wrap®. Expect additional information in the coming months about increased product availability as a stock item. For now, Eco Wrap® is available in widths from 18- 32” (45.7-81.3 cm) in full pallet quantities as a custom ordered product.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It is hard to get much better than EcoBio&lt;sup&gt;™ &lt;/sup&gt;VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt;-144 Barrier Paper when it comes to sustainable sourcing. Starting with 100% recycled paper stock, Cortec&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; adds its time-tested VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; coating (biodegradable per ASTM D6400) to one side and a biobased (90-100% renewable organic carbons per ASTM D6866), biodegradable barrier coating to the other side. &lt;h2&gt;Corrosion Protection + Moisture/Grease Barrier&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The result of this formula is corrosion inhibiting barrier paper that is perfect for protecting metals at risk for moisture exposure and corrosion. Users only need to wrap metal parts with the VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; coated side facing the metal, fold the edges of the paper together, and tape the paper to hold it in place. Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors from the internal coating diffuse throughout the package, forming a very thin, effective molecular layer of corrosion protection that does not alter the appearance of the metal. &lt;p&gt;A large North American distributor of electronic components used ESD moisture barrier bags plus desiccant for electronics packaging. They were intrigued with the idea of combining ESD and corrosion protection into one. The manufacturer embraced this innovative approach, tasking a Six Sigma Black Belt to do a thorough evaluation. Validation testing conducted by Cortec&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt; Laboratories confirmed that the VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt;-126 bags provided the same corrosion protection without the added oil.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;h2&gt;From Waste to Value: Implementing a Circular Solution&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The manufacturer eliminated the oil application and invested in a baler to efficiently collect the used VpCI&lt;sup&gt;®&lt;/sup&gt;-126 bags. is a water-based, heavy  duty 
rust remover available in the form of  liquid, powder and gel. Innovative  and  economical  rust 
remover is  designed to remove corrosion, scale  and naturally occurring oxides from iron, carbon 
and stainless steel, copper, aluminum, magnesium  and their alloys. This non-polluting product 
when compared to other industrial products eliminates and reduces virtually all waste disposal 
problems.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;VpCI®-426 Descaler/Rust Remover brightens magnesium and aluminum, leaving a shiny surface 
that provides long-term corrosion protection. This water-based liquid is also excellent  at 
removing  calcium carbonate and sulfate. The product is so safe that it can be used for household 
tasks. VpCI®-426 Descaler/Rust Remover stays in place on vertical and difficult to treat surfaces 
where corrosion is heavy, allowing extra time for VpCI®-426 to remove corrosion from the metal 
surface.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This non-toxic, nitrite free rust 
remover  has increased performance 
over equivalent products  while 
significantly reduces costs of surface 
preparation. It can be used in areas 
that cannot be sandblasted or 
cleaned with power tools. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Reliance Power steam &amp; gas turbine generators supplied by GE  –  USA were lying in the open 
yard at the port. The packing was damaged, and rust had started forming in many parts of the 
generators. There was an indefinite delay in carrying out the installation of equipment due to a 
sudden surge in raw material price. The customer wanted to preserve the costly generators for a 
minimum of one year.  All rust was  successfully  removed using VpCI®-426  Rust Remover. 
Cleaning and neutralizing was completed with  Cortec®’s  VpCI®-419  and the generators were 
wrapped with VpCI®-126 Blue film and covered  with Tarpaulin. Based on Cortec®
product 
credentials submitted to customer’s  technical team, Cortec®
was  highly  preferred against the

    EcoSol® is a water soluble, biodegradable, polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) film ideally suited for various packaging applications. Water soluble PVOH bags, sachets, or pouches created from this unique, technically advanced film provide a convenient, safe, and economical delivery system for a wide range of products; including detergents and cleaners, degreasers, concrete additives, pigments, biocides, water-treatment products, agricultural products and others.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
    EcoSol® film has excellent organic solvent resistance, which allows EcoSol® pouches and bags to be used not only for dry powders, but also for liquid products. This contemporary film offers very good mechanical properties: tensile strength, tear strength and puncture resistance. These properties allow EcoSol® to be used in a wide variety of rigorous applications. &amp;nbsp;After immersion EcoSol® dissolves in water leaving a harmless, non-toxic, aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol. Microorganisms will degrade the solution to carbon dioxide and water within about 30 days.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
    EcoSol® expands Cortec®’s rich line of biodegradable materials: after a few minutes of immersion at the specified temperature, the environmentally safe film dissolves in water leaving a harmless, non-toxic, aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol.
Once the liquid solution of PVOH comes into contact with common microorganisms, such as those found in water-treatment plants, conversion to carbon dioxide and water takes place within about 30 days. EcoSol® bags are chemically resistant to: mineral, vegetable and animal oils as well as aliphatic hydrocarbons – and ethers, esters, ketones.

&lt;p&gt;
    Voids were detected in "stay" cables on the Cochrane Bridge in Mobile, AL. They were measured and filled by "Vacuum Grouting" methods. Some cable strands were found to be exposed with no grout cover. Alabama Department of Transportation chose using Cortec®’s MCI® Mini Grenades as a solution. MCI® Mini Grenades packed in EcoSol® film mixed well and provided extra corrosion protection properties to grout.

    EcoSol® bags were a part of a “green” initiative conducted by Wright Patterson Air Force Base where all products and processes were being evaluated for environmental impact. They decided to change applications for cooling and heating systems to “green” and safer alternatives. They selected Cortec®'s products: Boiler Lizard® and Cooling Loop Gator® packed in EcoSol® bags and got a clean, reliable, efficient, and environmentally safe solution that provided excellent corrosion protection.

&lt;p&gt;US tire manufacturer had serious problems with general and pitting corrosion in East Temperature Control Unit (TCU). The visual appearance of the water in TCU was distressing. There was an obvious corrosion mechanism occurring, which has resulted in a significant amount of dissolved and particulate iron in the bulk water solution. CorShield® S-69 was added to the sump to help reduce corrosion in all three phases, liquid, interphase and vapor phase. After 24 hours there was a significant decrease in the pitting corrosion potential and the loop was recharged with fresh water inhibited with Cortec®’s CorShield® S-69. Two years of continued implementation of Cortec®’s CorShield® S-69 based formulation has resulted in acceptable corrosion rates to customer’s satisfaction.
